Assessments

Assessments

Students in SABIS® schools engage in regular assessment that help ensure that every student develops a solid foundation of knowledge and progresses toward the achievement of his or her full potential.  These assessments occur regularly throughout the school year for students of all ages.

SABIS® has a testing system that ensures students have grasped all the concepts taught through continuous assessments. Thousands of questions are available on the SABIS® School Management System (SSMS) through which the students get the chance to be exposed to different types of paper-based and computer-based questions.

Diagnostic exams are administered to all new, incoming students. The results of these exams are used as an academic “x-ray” to detect pre-existing gaps in the student’s knowledge and help the school place him or her in the appropriate class depending on their ability. Regular assessments are then used to monitor student performance.
The SABIS®AMS consists of weekly system-wide, computer-scored tests intended to detect learning gaps as soon as they form. SABIS®AMS tests are closely aligned with the SABIS® Edge curriculum and are intended to measure the mastery of material taught in the previous week.
SABIS® AMS assessments check student’s learning and long-term retention and evaluate students’ grasp of essential concepts.
In addition to the SABIS®AMS tests, students sit for Periodic exams that test multi-concepts every two or three weeks and at the end of each term.
A set of essential concepts are identified for each course to form the student’s grid on which he or she is regularly tested to ensure their mastery before being promoted to the next grade level. Periodic exams help to isolate gaps in students learning and monitor student’s mastery of these essential concepts.
